The Waikele Golf Course starts ground maintenance at about 3:45 a.m. They use gas leaf blowers and greens and fairway mowers at hours where many of us are still asleep. We residents deserve a peaceful lifestyle uninterrupted by this unreasonable noise in the morning hours.
Dept. of Health Chapter 46 states:
§11-46-4 Maximum permissible sound levels in dBA
(a) The maximum permissible sound levels specified in Table I, as provided in this subsection and in section 11-46-3, shall apply to the following excessive noise sources: stationary noise sources; and equipment related to agricultural, construction, and industrial activities.
This needs to be amended to include all residential properties located next to a business entity.
LEAF BLOWERS:
It is unlawful for any person to operate a leaf blower within a residential zone or within 100 feet of a residential zone in the State, except between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday and between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and State & Federal holidays.
Dept. of Health is adamant of the 100 ft. range. This criteria needs to change to 500 ft. Whether it is 100 ft. or 200 ft. it is still too loud.
